The movement

This is not a personal project. It is collective work, done in Acre, rooted in the Rio Breu Indigenous Land and international in reach.

Manifesto

Verified Translation
It is possible to live in balance between tradition and the city. That is what we are building. A collective future, where we care for the forest, for people, and for ourselves.
É Pop · 2025-06-25
Original (PT)

É possível viver com equilíbrio entre tradição e cidade. É isso que estamos construindo. Um futuro coletivo, onde a gente cuida da floresta, das pessoas e de nós mesmos.

As a spiritual leader I respect all religions, all denominations, because I know it is Divine Creation. […] All of us on this planet are in a single boat, and we are only passing through here.

Original (PT)

Eu como líder espiritual eu respeito todas as religiões, todos os segmentos, porque eu sei que é Criação Divina. […] Todos que nós estamos nesse planeta, nós estamos num barco só e estamos só de passagem aqui.

Institutional text Original
We consider ourselves as messengers of peace, messengers of love. I believe that the healing of humanity is in love and we have to practice that true and pure love that comes from the heart, with its ability to really strengthen the heart for those who need humanity.

The five fronts

Territory and autonomy
Gabriel Novis + Famke

01

Territory and autonomy

His most original argument, and the one least present in public debate: demarcation is a right, but it is not enough. Demarcated land belongs to the State — the government may dispose of it in the future, and the Marco Temporal ruling showed how unstable that ground is. So he bought land: 11 hectares in 2015, where the Centre was born, and a 2,450-hectare preserved reserve in 2023. This is not abandoning the fight for demarcation. It is a second layer of security, bought with money from music and television.

Verified Translation
I also realised that demarcated land is not ours. It belongs to the Union, and the government may dispose of it as it wishes in the future. So I decided to enter the system: with the money I earned, I bought 11 hectares on the outskirts of Rio Branco, where I built the Huwã Karu Yuxibu Centre.

Urban shelter

A young Indigenous person arriving in a big city with no network is exposed — to hunger, to prejudice, to recruitment by crime. He lived that in 2012, sleeping on boats in Cruzeiro do Sul. The Centre exists so that no one has to repeat that path: housing, food, language and culture in one place, while the person studies.

Verified Translation
Today the place shelters 42 families, around 210 people — who, without government support, were at risk in the big cities, including being recruited into crime. […] At the centre we preserve our culture and identity, including traditional cuisine and the ancestral knowledge of the forest.

Language and culture

The Hãtxa Kuî language, of the Pano family, is the living archive of Huni Kuin cosmology. The prayers are not songs about the forest: they are the forest speaking. Recording twelve tracks entirely in Hãtxa Kuî — no electronic fusion, no translation laid over the top — is an act of documentary preservation, within the International Decade of Indigenous Languages (2022–2032) declared by UNESCO. The same holds for kene, the geometric graphic system that appears on clothing, bodies and objects: each pattern carries knowledge, and belongs collectively to the people.

Forest and climate

The Rio Breu Indigenous Land borders Peru along the river. On the Peruvian side, the timber industry has advanced into forest the people preserved for decades — hitting springs, animals and access to medicinal plants. On the Brazilian side came the fires: five hectares of his own land in three hours, during the pandemic. And the floods came, which had not existed there before.

Verified Translation
Today nature is speaking to us in many ways — floods, earthquakes, droughts. These are warnings we fail to understand. Among original peoples, always connected to nature, we understand that she is reacting. It matters a great deal to us that people start listening more to what we say, because we are transmitting nature's messages.

Music as diplomacy

He recorded his first prayers in Paraná and posted them on YouTube. That is how Alok found him. From there came Global Citizen Live, Rio2C, the album The Future is Ancestral, the Latin Grammy in Miami and Central Park in New York. Song opened doors that speeches do not — and every open door became room to talk about territory, forest and demarcation.

Verified Translation
Music for us is concentration and balance, it is healing. Our music is prayer, our chants come from the birds — it is the forest's message, bringing healing and spiritual therapy to our people.
